Baby Loss Awarness Week Challenges

October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month and every year during Baby Loss Awareness Week, Chasing the Rainbows invites families, friends, advocates, and supporters to take seven days and make some noise for every baby gone too soon. One challenge each day. One week to break the silence. One community that refuses to let a single baby be forgotten. If you know someone navigating infertility, pregnancy loss, or infant loss — send them our way. They don’t have to do this alone. We’re here, and everything we offer is free.

How to Participate in Baby Loss Awareness Week

Each day from October 9-15 has its own challenge — something you can do on social media, in your home, or in your community to raise awareness and honor every baby lost. Complete as many days as you can. Share each one with the daily hashtag and tag us at @ChasingTheRainbowsInc so we can share your post and amplify your voice. The more people who participate, the louder our message becomes — every baby loss matters.

What is Baby Loss Awareness Week

Baby Loss Awareness Week takes place this year from October 9-15th as part of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. It is a global observance dedicated to honoring babies lost to miscarriage, stillbirth, SIDS, ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy, termination for medical reasons, and infant death — and to supporting the families who carry their loss every day. Chasing the Rainbows hosts the National seven day challenge from October 9-15th building toward the October 15th international Wave of Light — the single most powerful moment of the entire month, when families around the world light a candle at 7pm in honor of their baby.

More Ways to Get Involved This October

Landmarks & Businesses Lighting Up

This October join landmarks and businesses across the United States in lighting up pink and blue for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. One in four pregnancies ends in loss — and every single one of those babies deserves to be remembered. When your building, storefront, bridge, or landmark shines pink and blue, you send a message to every grieving parent who sees it that their baby matters, their loss is seen, and they are not alone. Getting your landmark or business involved is simple. Chasing the Rainbows will promote every participating location on our website, social media, and awareness campaigns throughout October. Your light reaches farther than you know.

Wave of Light Candlelighting

Every year on October 15th at 7pm families around the world light a candle in honor of their baby. The flame burns for one hour, passing time zone to time zone in a continuous wave of light that circles the entire globe — the international Wave of Light. Chasing the Rainbows hosts candlelighting ceremonies outside landmarks across the United States where baby names are read aloud and every family is surrounded by people who understand. You can also host your own Wave of Light candlelighting in your city, your neighborhood, your church, your hospital, or your home. Every candle lit is a baby remembered. Every gathering is a community that says — you are not alone, your baby mattered, and their light will never go out.

Host a FUNdraiser Supporting Loss Parents

One of the most powerful things you can do this October is host a FUNdraiser for Chasing the Rainbows. Every dollar raised goes directly toward keeping our mental health programs, daily support groups, individual therapy, peer mentorship, funeral assistance, mindful movement, care packages, and podcast completely free for every family navigating pregnancy loss, infant loss, miscarriage, stillbirth, infertility, and SIDS. A FUNdraiser does not have to be complicated. It can be a dinner, a walk, a bake sale, a game night, a golf tournament, a social media fundraiser, or any event that brings your community together for a cause that touches one in four families. Chasing the Rainbows will support you every step of the way with resources, promotion, and everything you need to make your event a success. Because when you raise funds for CTR — you are not just raising money. You are making sure no grieving parent ever has to pay for the support that helps them survive the worst loss of their life.
